Projection Intro - Texas Tech vs. Michigan State

NCAA Final Four Basketball Projection Mapping – Texas Tech vs. Michigan State

Transforming U.S. Bank Stadium with Immersive AV Technology for the Texas Tech vs. Michigan State Showdown

When the lights dimmed and the energy surged through U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis in 2019, fans knew they were in for something special. The NCAA Men’s Final Four matchup between Texas Tech and Michigan State wasn’t just a clash of basketball giants—it was the stage for a groundbreaking moment in sports entertainment. With custom projection mapping technology designed and executed by Quince Imaging, the game began not with a tip-off, but with a visual spectacle that transformed the court into a dynamic canvas of light, motion, and story.

Redefining Game Presentation with Projection Mapping

Quince Imaging, a national leader in immersive display technology, partnered with The Famous Group to deliver one of the most unforgettable introductions in NCAA history. Leveraging state-of-the-art projection systems and real-time media server technology, the court was illuminated with high-resolution graphics that brought both teams’ journeys to life.

This NCAA Final Four projection mapping show didn’t just entertain—it set a new standard. The animated intro, featuring stunning visual effects and synchronized audio, immersed over 70,000 fans in a cinematic experience unlike anything seen before at a college basketball game.

Behind the Scenes: The Team That Made It Happen

Delivering this experience required deep collaboration among creative, technical, and operational experts. The intro sequence was directed by Lauren Fisher, with art direction by Damien Nemire-Pepe and executive production by Andrew Isaacson. Quince Imaging’s expert AV engineering team included:

  • Scott Williams – Executive Producer
  • CJ Davis – Projection Designer
  • Colin Shock – Media Server Operator
  • Liam O’Hanlon – System Engineer
  • Zubair Parkar – Media Server Designer
  • Anthony Magdon & Jay Hutchison – Projection Engineers

Their seamless coordination ensured flawless integration of Christie 4K laser projectors, cutting-edge media servers, and custom-designed content.

Powered by Technology, Fueled by Storytelling

At the core of this success was the perfect blend of technology and narrative. Through previsualization and 3D animation, Quince Imaging brought each player, logo, and moment to life in a highly choreographed sequence. The content was edited by Steve Davis and Elliot Diviny, with animation from Dallas Holloway, Harumi Shibano, Vit Shytnev, and Chris Villa.

Sound design by Danny Olson and final sound mixing by Kill The Messenger added dimension and emotional impact to the sequence.

“We wanted to create a memory that lived far beyond the opening buzzer,” said Scott Williams, Executive Producer at Quince Imaging. “It’s about elevating the energy in the room and setting the tone for a championship experience.”

The Future of Sports Entertainment

The NCAA Final Four projection was more than just a one-off—it showcased what’s possible when immersive technology is used to engage, entertain, and inspire. This activation continues to influence arena game presentations across professional and collegiate sports.

Quince Imaging continues to lead the charge in transforming live events through innovative projection mapping and content design. Their work spans the NFL, NHL, NBA, and now collegiate sports, making them a go-to partner for athletic organizations seeking a next-level fan experience.
