Lil Nas X Hologram
Immersive Live Event Visuals for Riot Games’ Global Championship
LED, Projection Mapping, Holographic Displays, and Data-Driven Effects Across Multiple Venues
For the League of Legends World Championship in San Francisco, Quince Imaging partnered for the fifth consecutive year with the world-class team at Riot Games to deliver a show-stopping live event experience; highlighted by a hologram performance from Lil Nas X that captivated a global audience.
Working closely with ConCom Inc., Quince Imaging provided on-site creative and technical support across multiple championship venues, including Madison Square Garden, State Farm Arena, and the Finals at Chase Center. Our team drove all in-venue visual content, delivering synchronized graphics across LED displays, projection mapping systems, holographic elements, and data-driven visual effects, creating a cohesive, high-impact show that elevated the live and broadcast experience.
To elevate the performance, we helped deploy a projection-based hologram illusion designed to make the artist appear to float in midair. Using precision projection mapped onto transparent kabuki screens, the effect created a lifelike, three-dimensional presence visible to both the live audience and broadcast cameras.
This approach blends advanced projection mapping, exact sightline planning, and tightly synchronized content playback to deliver the impact of a hologram, without the limitations of traditional volumetric displays. The result was a seamless illusion that enhanced choreography, music, and storytelling while integrating naturally into the overall stage design.
