Washington, D.C. saw the rink lit up in red, opening night at Capital One Arena, for the Washington Caps’ post-season debut. The show, featuring projections and snapshots of team members and mascot, Slapshot, from some of the season’s most victorious moments, was an instant hit – bringing fans to their feet as red glow sticks illuminated the entire arena. Monumental Sports, the joint-venture company that owns and manages Washington’s Capitals and Wizards, worked closely with Quince Imaging’s creative team to develop the pre-game show concept, that became a hit both live in the arena and online. The dual-sport projection system, designed and installed by Quince Imaging, that also deployed the Washington Wizard’s April 20th opening night show, is a first-of-its-kind build, that featured the latest in projection, media server, signal transmission and integration technology. Coined by Quince as the “trifecta” of sports imaging technology, the product lineup consists of Christie’s Pandoras Box V6 media servers, the brand-new Christie Terra 4K signal transmitter, and the Christie Mystique, which provides an integrative solution to calibrating complex multi-projector display systems. Together, these systems enhance the playoff fan-engagement experience, by amplifying the effects of 3D video-mapped content and interactive special effects during player introductions and halftime shows on the court and rink.
